Who Moved My Cheese?

The book “Who Moved My Cheese?” is about adapting to changes in life. It is written by Dr. Spencer Johnson which has influenced a lot of people around the world. The story is about two mice and two littlepeople living in a maze. In the maze they have cheese stations and cheese. The mice and littlepeople faced problems and they had to find new cheese. Although many people liked the book,  I find the story not quite interesting, but I find the lesson valuable and learned a lot from it.

After I finished reading the book I realized some things in my life. I realized that things are going to change and nothing is going to stay the same. Changes will always occur in our lives and nothing would be permanent. For me the lesson is really useful in my life. Even though I learned a lot from the book, the story wasn’t really that exciting.

The metaphors that the author used could be better (instead of using cheese, he could use something more interesting to read about). The story line and the things that happened were quite clear. I really wish that the story is a bit more interesting so that I could enjoy the book more. Most of the things in this book are metaphors. The maze that the mice and littlepeople are living in represents our life. Our life has dead ends and we have to find our way through it.  The cheese stations in the maze represent our comfort zones. The cheese represents something that we want most and posses.  Even the characters in this book have a meaning. There are four characters: Sniff and Scurry (the mice) and Hem and Haw (the littlepeople). Sniff symbolizes people who sniff changes in their lives. Scurry represents people who scurries into action and do something quickly. Hem and Haw represents the people that are stuck and unable to move on.

There are several lessons in this book that I can relate to my life. The first one is that change happens. In the book it is shown by the cheese that keeps on moving. In my life changes happen and I have to face them. The second lesson that I learned is that I should anticipate change. In the book it’s shown that we should smell the cheese often so you know when it is getting old. I have to keep on checking the changes in my life and know when I have to move on and change.

After learning the lessons in this book I plan to change the way I live. I will anticipate change and be ready. I will not be afraid of the changes that are going to occur in my life and face them. I will also learn when I should move on, change and not stay in my comfort zone.

I would recommend this book for people who want to live their life in a better way. They can learn a lot of lessons from this book and make their life a better one. I would not recommend this book to people who are looking for interesting stories to read.
